Pantry Organizing Ideas
It’s that time of year! Organizing the home, clearing the clutter…it’s at the top of our to-do list! I love the feeling of a fresh start. When each room has a place for everything, our home is calm and less stressful. Functional and pretty storage is always my goal! So, I have pantry organizing ideas just for you!
One of my least favorite rooms WAS my pantry. It had only three wire shelves. There was unused space and awkward corners. So, we used a few days over the Holidays to rebuild our pantry and customize it to fit our needs.
I’m honored to be a part of the BHG Live Better Influencer Network! I love to represent a brand that has quality style at affordable prices. I’ll be compensated for my effort and time creating this blog post…however it’s no additional cost to you, if you choose to shop through the links provided (just click on each small photo). As always, my opinions are genuinely my own, and I hope you enjoy this post with ideas for organizing your pantry!
We started by adding shiplap to the entire pantry and replacing wire shelving with custom wood shelves. We also added a fourth shelf to maximize our space. By reconfiguring the small alcoves on the right, the entire area can be used for storage. We painted everything in Bistro White by Valspar to match our kitchen cabinets. Now, it’s so bright and aesthetically pleasing! The added storage is a total game changer! I now have storage space for food and dry goods…plus space to store glass cloches and other taller items on the top shelf.
The fun part was choosing Storage Containers from Better Homes & Gardens Line at Walmart
I find food labels and packages to be too colorful and busy…so, I like to create a space that’s “easy on the eyes” and neutral. I chose whites, woods, and metals to give the pantry a cohesive look. There were so many affordable storage solutions to choose from at Walmart!
My favorite baskets to store chips and snacks are the water hyacinth woven baskets with handles. They are lightweight with plenty of room for stacking many packages inside. Another favorite is the Better Homes & Garden Galvanized Round Tubs because they are sturdy and easy to wipe clean!
We also customized the left side of the pantry to have a taller area to store a nice trash can. We don’t have another area for a trash can, so this works perfectly for our space. I found this amazing Better Homes & Garden Oval Waste Can (available in white & stainless steel) that has a step feature to raise the lid with NO hands! Yay! I also appreciate the large 10.5 gallon size, so there’s no “taking out the trash” daily 🙂
I found the bamboo storage pieces so useful! The Better Homes & Garden Expandable Spice Rack isn’t just for spices! I used it to house all of our canned goods. It makes finding what I need quick and easy! The same for the Better Homes & Garden 2-Level Lazy Susan which makes the corner of the shelf much more accessible. It’s very handy for those every day items.
It’s always a good idea to use the height of your shelves to stack baskets. This saves space too! The Better Homes & Garden Wire Large Stacking Basket has handles, and when you flip them over to the center, can be stacked on top of another! How genius is that?? So, I used these for storing potatoes and some individually wrapped snacks. Once again, functional and pretty!
I also found this wooden utensil holder for storing our plastics…it’s acacia wood and makes self-serve buffet style meals so convenient! The Better Homes & Gardens Acacia Bowl and other items are sold online.
Another genius storage idea is to remove your food from packages and store in containers that keep everything fresh. I love the Better Homes & Garden Flip Tite Storage Containers in all sizes! I found these perfect for a whole bag of chips and pretzels! This makes snacking easy! It also makes food prep simple by knowing exactly how much you have remaining.
The Better Homes & Garden Large Popcorn Bowl is perfect for storing microwavable popcorn packages and serving popcorn too! I have it stocked and ready for movie nights!
And lastly, I thought the space needed a small rug to finish it off! Better Homes & Garden Fringed Mat fits perfectly in our pantry and looks cute too!
Here are a couple of “progress” pics for your viewing pleasure…
This is my favorite refresh this year! Haha! Just kidding…it’s just the FIRST project we’ve tackled this year 😉 I’m so thankful to my hubby for making this design come alive! And…I still have a few things I want to add to our pantry. My husband is hanging a chandelier in here soon. And I’ll be hanging a peg rack on the little wall to the right. It will store our broom and some aprons.
