Casual Summer Entertaining

Happy Summer time! I’m excited to be a part of the Styled + Set Summer Entertaining Blog Tour, hosted by the sweet Lory of Designthusiasm! I’m so happy you’re here…and there are several more beautiful entertaining posts to visit at the bottom of this post 🙂

Is it hot yet where you are? Well, Louisiana weather hasn’t been too bad yet. Tropical Storm Cindy swept through the state last week…and it looks like the temps will be rising now.

Although the heat can get pretty miserable around here, the slow down of summer time is so enjoyable. No school, no where to be every single evening. It’s the perfect time for having friends over and enjoying a glass of lemonade or sweet summertime snacks.

For casual summer entertaining I like easy, so…I made simple Caprese cracker stacks with mozzarella cheese, fresh basil and tomatoes, drizzled with Balsamic vinegar. Then I placed some fruit on the cutest Pink Marble Cheese Board from PCB HOME HERE and added lemon to ice water. It’s a very simple, casual way to serve refreshments during these hot summer days!

Aren’t summer foods so vibrant? I just love all the colors of fresh fruits and veggies. I grew the basil in our garden, however, everything else you see is from the grocery store. I really wish for a garden full of veggies and fruits one day!

Although the snacks are eye-catching, I think the fresh flowers take the cake! The zinnias are from a sweet friend who just began flower farming…and you can follow her journey on Instagram HERE. She gave me  hundreds of beautiful flowers, so I decided to hang some from the French crate above the island. If you follow me on INSTAGRAM HERE, you may have seen my IG stories two days ago, where I was creating this flower canopy above the island…I call it IG TV on Becky’s Farmhouse channel 🙂

I trimmed each stem to a length where they would hang approximately the same length over the island…and used bendable metal ornament hangers to hang each one.

I love how the colors pop against the white and wood. It makes such a pretty view! You may want to read where I did a variation of this project Here as a Flower Chandelier over our farmtable. This flower canopy would make a pretty addition to a bridal luncheon or baby shower during the summer months.

Well…thank you so much for visiting me here today! I’d sure love for you to tell me what you think about the casual summer entertaining ideas…and if you decide to make a flower canopy over your island or table, I’d love to hear about it!

Please take some time now to visit my talented friend Shayna, at The Wood Grain Cottage HERE  to see her ideas for summer entertaining…and all of our posts are listed below. Have a lovely day!
