Here’s the Coop

I follow several incredible women who have fabulous blogs and they
have chickens!
I thought maybe we need chickens, and fresh eggs, too-living in the country and all.
So, I asked my sweet hubby if he could build a chicken coop.

I showed him lots of coops-
like Heather Bullard’s and The Fancy Farmgirl’s.
I told him I wanted it to be snazzy, kind-of vintage, and cute.
So, he got busy.  No real plan. Just an idea.
He used our huge stack of old fence boards.
Cheap. No cost lumber.

And here is the MAN himself.
He had all the right muscles tools for the job.

So without much explanation, I’ll just show you the photos.
Step-by-step.

After the whole coop was put together,
I painted it with a whitewash.

I’m certain that our little hens will enjoy their new home.
I am very proud of this coop “from scratch”.
We only purchased screws, hinges, latches, and chicken wire.
About $80.00 total.
My sweet hubby went all-out, don’t you think?

In about three weeks, the girls get to move into their coop.
Can’t wait!

That is a great looking coop your hubby built for you and the newest little ones. Our coop is bright red because that's what my hubby thinks a barn or chicken coop should be. I didn't argue. I decorate the indoors so I will let him do the outside stuff. (at least some of it) HA
