Hey my friends!
I’ve been missing all of you π
Our internet has been non-functioning this week, due to the massive storm
that blew through Tuesday night.
Thankful that all is well here…and hoping this finds you all safe at home.
With a little time on my hands, I did manage to paint my old cabinet.
Well, it’s just a shelf now that I removed the doors π
I took a bunch of pictures to show you the details…
Hope you enjoy π
Here is a shot of the shelf before I painted it this time…
It was a very light gray, with the inside the original dark wood.
I was inspired to paint the inside of the shelf white by
(She has a gorgeous blue cupboard!)
So, I decided to paint the outside of the shelf a subtle green.
I used BEHR Spring Hill in a satin finish with a dry brush technique.
I used a basic white for the inside of the shelf, using a dry-brush also.
Then I sanded profusely all over to expose the layer of dark wood.
The green is a subtle shade, just enough to show up with the right light.
I really do like the way it turned out.
The ironstone and jars seem to show up well with the vintage wood backdrop.
I picked a few pink hydrangeas from my garden.
Hope to keep them alive π
I used my old zinc basket to fill with burlap bags, feedsacks, and tablecloths.
The colors of the Ball jars are one of my favorites.
I also added my bottle carrier with an assortment of vintage bottles.
And an old zinc sap bucket just stands alone.
I am planning to try some wax suggestions from Miss Mustard Seed,
to finish it off and prevent scratch marks.
I am sharing my shelf’s new paint-job over at Furniture Feature Friday.
I am also sharing with Donna at Friday Nite Special.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for visiting me today π
Blessings,
Becky C

Very beautiful!! I love the way it looks like the paint has been there for years. wonderful job. I have some big painting jobs but I'm a little nervous that I might mess up. I have never painted a big piece of furnitrue yet. Thanks for sharing.
Rebecca
So glad you're back. the shelf is wonderful. I LOVE everything on it too. β₯
Girl!!!!! I love this!!!!! This is a great cabinet and the way you have it decorated is perfect. I love the paint!!!!
Why oh why do you do this to me when you paint things in my favorite color? You know it makes me covet and that is a sin. Actually, I don't mind you keeping yours, it's just that I want one just like it. That means if we find another one similar then we (you) have to paint it to look just like it and then I bring it back to TN. Deal????
Am I going to have to bring a U-Haul with me when I come just in case? π
I love the finished product – so lovely. It's filled with lots of fun treasures too…you lucky girl!
I love your paint selection Becky! It looks so good with those Ball jars and sets their color off perfectly. I was busy painting here today…a chalkboard and frame for my daughter's room that I hope to post…someday π
Gosh that looks wonderful !! Well done,
Love Helen xx
Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog and your appretiation! Your kitchen shelf turned out gorgeous. Those blue jars are so nice we havent got these in sweden. You arranged your shelf so beautiful. Warm wishes. /Therese
