A Christmas Kitchen Island
I hope everyone is staying warm this Christmas season.
I wanted to share with you my kitchen island decorated for Christmas.
The decor is simple, once again, with light touches of red.
I used plain jars with white lids for staples such as pasta, beans, and oats.
These were old spaghetti sauce jars that I cleaned and recycled 🙂
Just adding a touch of ribbon gives them a festive glow.
This is a view from the top.
I hung an old white curtain rod to serve as a pot hanger above the island.
Using twine, I also added old kitchen utensils with wooden red handles
to tie in the Christmas red.
This ricer is one of those special heirlooms from my Aunt Sue 🙂
The pot hanger helps to complete an otherwise empty space.
This is my coffee tray adorned with
a grouping of cinnamon sticks for the holidays.

I love your island. Did you do the distressing on it yourself? Or did you get it that way? I'm redoing a cabinet/ hutch, and could use some distressing/ antiuqing tips and pointers!!
Aren't you clever with the curtain rod! I have a "makeshift" hanger for my pots myself. So fun to recycle and upcycle, isn't it? This is just adorable. You have a magic touch!

The curtain rod pot holder is fantastic! It is one of the best ideas I have seen in some time! Love your island. I have an original 1933 kitchen with a big interior space and am looking for an old wood table for kitchen prep in the middle of the room as would have been done back in the '30s. Love what you created!
Your island and pops of red are wonderful! The curtain rod was such an inventive way to add a pot rack! Did your husband make the island? Love your display!

That is so eye-catching. I love it. I really took notice of your rice server. My grandmother owned one when I was a child and I used to love when she would bring it to the table and serve each of us with it. I really should find one of those. Your kitchen looks WONDERful. I'm a follower and today just decided to go thru your blog again because there is so much inspiration that i have forgotten about. Now I can pin it!
I like to recycle jars for storage too. Did you spray the lids white? I've done a few of mine and never see to get the rims easily. Any tips?
