Pretty Plates for Farmhouse Friday

Happy Farmhouse Friday again! Our theme this month is dishes…which I happen to LOVE 🙂 I love vintage dish storage, setting a table, and collections of dishes…especially plates. So, I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite ways to use plates during the Fall months. DSC_1312 Over the last few years, I’ve added to my collection of plates. I love ironstone, however, it’s hard to find around here. My sister-friend Amy has given me several pieces of ironstone. I love these little gold trimmed plates paired with large, crazed ironstone plates. DSC_1308  I love setting a table with mis-matched plates and a simple centerpiece. DSC_1327   A few colorful branches (from our pasture) and a green pumpkin is an easy, natural way to decorate a table setting for the Fall. DSC_1318  All shades of white plates, vintage or new, are my favorite plates to collect. We use them everyday for meals, and they “go with” any theme or Holiday for easy table setting 🙂 DSC_1310  I also display plates in different ways, while they aren’t in use. This galvanized pie rack serves as a great plate display 🙂 DSC_1297   DSC_1301  This makes it easy for guests to grab a plate at the dessert table for self-service…especially with crowded dinners like Thanksgiving. DSC_1330  Another way to display favorite plates while not in use, is stacking them on shelves or cubbies. DSC_1319 DSC_1324   DSC_1321 I also have some China from when we got married that I use often. Do you use your good China? If you’re saving it for special occasions, well, it’s that time of year :)  DSC_1197  For this centerpiece, I just cut some wheat-like weeds from the pasture and used little strawberry corn on each place setting. I like the simplicity 🙂 DSC_1196  Of course, sometimes, for self-service dining, I just set out stacks of plates on the table…and allow guests to help themselves. DSC_1181 Well, I hope that you’re inspired to get your best dishes and plates out for the most wonderful time of the year! Set a simple table and enjoy dinner with family and friends! 7. That first photo took my breath away! I love how you paired the organic pumpkin with very elegant glasses. All your examples are so pretty!

  8. All your plates are pretty and you have arranged them so simply yet beautifully. I love the little stack of butter pats and that pie rack is a gorgeous piece! I have lots of sets of white plates (both new and old) for our usual large gatherings. I usually use white caterer's plates for the holidays as we often serve buffet style.

Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
