Slow Down Summer!

Happy Monday friends! Is summer just flying by for you? It is for us too…and it makes me sad. I love the easy, lazy days of summer- kids sleeping in, staying up late, coffee on the deck, weekend trips :)  It’s been a relaxing month for us…and I hope you’ve all had a great summer so far! bistro chair 2 I have two wine barrels on our front porch…they are overflowing with sweet potato vine, phlox and limelight hydrangeas. So I cut a few limelights to enjoy inside. bistro chair 3 I wanted to mention the vintage grain sack that I purchased from Tracey at French Larkspur… and show one way I use grain sacks- as slipcovers for the arm rests of our sofas.  With 3 kids and a messy English bulldog, this is an easy way to keep our white sofa slipcovers cleaner for a longer period of time…just throw the grain sacks in the washer when needed, and makes your sofa pretty, too 🙂 French bistro Also, we’ve been eating a LOT of fresh fruit this summer…cherries are one of our favorites! I had to take some pics of these, they were so pretty on an ironstone plate.   Cherries 2 Cherries 4   Cherries 1 limelights 2 I have been working out in our garden lately, especially in the late evening when it’s not too hot. I harvested the lavender. It smells divine. There’s nothing like fresh cut lavender. lavender 2 lavender 1 lavender & limelights I also wanted to mention the show everyone is talking about…Fixer Upper on HGTV. Wow! I didn’t know what I’ve been missing. My friend Amy at All Things Home told me how much she LOVES it. So, I saw the first one, and was hooked 🙂 Now, I’m almost caught up with all the episodes! I love that sweet couple and their style is fabulous! If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out 🙂 Well, thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! You can also keep up with Buckets of Burlap on FACEBOOK HERE and Buckets of Burlap on INSTAGRAM HERE. Hugs to you all…have a great week! Blessings

  7. Hello Becky,
Thanks for the idea of using grain sacks on chair arms. My hubs is wearing out the white slipcover on the club chair that he has turned into his desk, I already have a few sacks that I can pull out.
