Summer Highlights

Hello everyone! How are you? What a busy month July turned out to be! Whoo! It came and went like a rushing river around here. And now August is half over? How did that happen? School started…and we’ve had unseasonably cool weather this week; which is always a welcome surprise 🙂 bouquets 2 I just wanted to share a few things about our summer… bouquets 1 All summer I’ve enjoyed making fresh bouquets of flowers from our garden. We’ve had beautiful blooms and bountiful herbs this year.  I love mixing the cut flowers with herbs such as rosemary, lavender, basil, sage, and mint. Smells so good! bouquets 3 Of course, a single lime light hydrangea is just as beautiful as a bouquet… Dining room ink bottles  Our chickens and ducks have been laying pretty eggs all summer. Kitchen bouquets  And I have made several flavored waters to enjoy during the hot days. Pineapple & mint is one of my favorites. bouquets 7 Another exciting part of summer was our vegetable garden…we’ve had lots of juicy tomatoes and little bell peppers too. bouquets 5 However, the highlight of our summer was going to Nashville, where our girls performed with the Fine Arts Summer Academy at the Grand Ole Opry! They enjoyed learning from the Annie Moses Band, and singing with the choir. We are very proud of them 🙂 Grand Ole Opry And that sums the last few weeks around here. I hope you’ve been busy enjoying your family too!  Thanks so much for visiting my blog today! And I wanted to thank  Andrea from The Cottage Market for featuring our home as the Cottage of the Week HERE…you will want to go visit her blog- fabulous!! What an abundant summer. I love it all! The music, the veggies, the mint water, the flowers. And tell me, do you eat your duck eggs the same way you would your chicken eggs? Our ducks started laying recently. Texture seems to be a touch different. I've heard they are great poached. Feeling so new at this! 😉
