Dear Mom

Dear Mom, It’s been three years without you…. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you and wish you were here. Wish I could call you and ask you about that recipe…or tell you how all my flowers are blooming. You’d be so proud! I may have gotten a “green thumb” from you! Mother's Day hydrangeas  I’d love to show you our house…oh how I’ve changed it up since you were here.  You’d love it’s bright and cozy feeling…with a “farmhouse” kind of charm. I sure would enjoy sharing “coconut mocha” coffee with you out on our patio. We’d watch the kids play and gather eggs…it would remind you of growing up in the country 🙂 Mother's Day coffee sign I really miss shopping with you…I’ve found so many Antique shops that you would love 🙂 Shannon takes me to Canton a few times a year, and we find cool stuff together…he is my shopping buddy now. Mother's Day rose I want you to know that we talk about you all the time…and are reminded of you daily by little things like your hats hanging on the wall or when Paula Deen comes on the Food Network 🙂 I even drink a cup of coffee in the afternoons…just like you did. I remind myself of you in so many ways. Mother's Day hats And the grandkids…they have grown up so much…they are busy with friends, music lessons, gymnastics, and t-ball…you’d be so proud of their accomplishments. And we still make gingerbread cookies at Christmastime to keep your tradition going. Mother's Day gingerbread I want to thank you for teaching me how to be a good mom. For teaching me scriptures I hold in my heart still this very day. Mother's Day flowers And though we miss you terribly, I want you to know that we are ok. We are happy and healthy and God has blessed us with precious people that love on us just like you did. And we find comfort in knowing we will see you in Heaven one day. Mother's Day foxgloves But until then… Here is a song dedicated to you and all kinds of “moms” on this beautiful MOTHER’S DAY! (written by my sweet girls Kati Jayde & Kynli)

I love you MOM!

Blessings

Happy Mother's Day. Your words to your mother brought tears to my eyes. It has been 9 yrs since my mother passed and I still have so much to show and tell her.

  2. OH this post is so perfect and exactly how I feel about my mom even though she's been gone for over 25 years. I talk to her and think about her all the time. The greatest legacy is how her grandchildren talk about her all the time too. They are always saying things like "Grandma would have – – -". God Bless. Your daughters are precious and such a talent too. Hugs, Marty

This is just beautiful. My mom is still here, but unwell and in a nursing home. I sat with her and held her hand and talked to her today, but I desperately miss all the things we used to do together. Your post reminds me that I should be happy she is still here with me now, regardless of our experiences together, we are together. Thank you for that reminder.

What a lovely tribute! My mom has been gone for five years now and I can relate to many of the things you spoke of. I can't get any sound on the video, but it sure looks sweet!

  21. What a beautiful post! I lost my mom will be three years in September and this year March was 2 for my dad. I so miss them both and not a day goes by that I am not thinking about her and wishing she were here. Yes, I have her Bible outlined and highlighted with notes in the margins and letters that she wrote to me and my children even though we lived only 3 minutes away from each other. When I hear the song, Light of that City, I know she's not lame anymore but running all over that city. With her Being confined to a wheelchair for 2 years, it give me peace to know that she is walking and free of pain and suffering. Thanks for this post. I needed it tonight. God knows how to give me what I need when it-it was right on time although written a few weeks ago.

  22. Becky, This brought tears to my eyes! It's such a good reminder to cherish the people God has given us, especially those closest to us! Hugs, Anne

From the very first line I recognized this is a letter I could write to my own mother… Thankfully, and inspired by your post, I was able to pick up the phone to tell my mom just how much I love her and what she means to me.

I wish you could do the same.

    Much love,

    Janet
